Environmentally Friendly
Silompan is made of 100% bamboo, which can be harvested at 3-5 years of age. Soft or hardwood forests, by comparison, can take fifty or sixty years to reach cutable maturity.SilompanTM is a hand-woven wood product manufactured of 100% environmentally-friendly bamboo. Silompan is available in 4 x 8 foot sheets of 1 mm veneer, 2.5 mm stock, or 6 mm plywood.
The veneer may be applied with most any industrial adhesives including contact cement and wallpaper paste. It is generally used as wall covering.
2.5 mm stock is recommended for use as a ceiling covering, as it can be pin-nailed and glued with a repositionable adhesive. It has also been used successfully as a flooring with the additional application of a layered hard-shell floor finish.
6 mm Silompan is the construction grade. Where labor costs are an issue, contractors use the 6 mm in place of the other grades as it can simply be air-nailed or screwed into place, foregoing the time-consuming adhesive application. It is also perfect for use in furniture and cabinet production.
